National Literacy Trust research reveals a widening gender gap in boys’ and girls’ attitudes towards writing. Many schools face a growing challenge to enthuse reluctant boy writers and engage them in the writing process.

The aim of these resources is to show how NEO 2 can be used to support a wide range of enjoyable and absorbing writing and learning opportunities. NEO 2 can be used for working individually, in small groups, or within a whole class.

Many schools are using NEO 2s in class sets, and have managed to close the gender gap in writing and raise writing standards overall. We hope that you will be able to use some of the ideas and suggestions in your own schools.
